National Teacher Appreciation Week was observed last week, May 4-8, 2026. On Sunday, May 3, a handful of Hodgin neighbors chalked messages of thanks and appreciation to staff and teachers on the sidewalks leading to the entrances of Hodgin Elementary.

Additionally, the HNA assembled two gift baskets full of supplies that were offered as prizes to faculty at the end of the week.

Since its opening in 1958, Hodgin Elementary has been an integral part of this neighborhood and in the lives of Hodgin residents . The school is even responsible for the formation of the HNA as it was conceived and guided into existence by Principal Rose Dixon in the 1990s. The HNA History Page has more of this story.
