Erna Fergusson Library to close in September for renovations

On a white background sit a collection of "L" shapes in different sizes in rust, turqoise, and lime green.The City just announced impending closures of the Erna Fergusson and San Pedro Libraries for remodeling and improvements. The Erna Fergusson branch is scheduled to close on September 21, 2026.

The announcement states the San Pedro Library, which will close on August 10, is expected to be closed for 120 days. No closure duration for Erna Fergusson is stated, but it says that both libraries will be receiving “similar improvements.” A four month closure would mean that Erna Fergusson could reopen in January of 2027.

During the closure, the city suggests patrons visit nearby branch locations for physical resources:

  • Ernie Pyle Library, 900 Girard SE.
  • International District Library, 7601 Central NE.
  • Juan Tabo Library, 3407 Juan Tabo NE.
